MEET THE DESIGNER

How did you get involved in interior design? I studied art history and studio art in college. Afterwards I worked in a gallery, but I missed being creative so I went back to school for interior design. What characterizes your work? For so many people, when you say "interior designer" it's reminiscent of pulling teeth. The process should be fun, full of joy and totally focused on what my clients love. Do you have a distinct style? I love every style. I try to utilize the highest quality of resources and furniture lines available from the specific style my clients prefer. Then, of course, it's my job to take all of this and make their home fabulous. What challenges do you face? I often run into husbands and wives who like things differently. Being a good listener really helps me come up with ways of creating interiors that suit both. Why do you work here? I grew up in the Palm Beach area and am a fifth-generation Floridian—the only one I know! I went away to school and was so happy to come back. It is exquisitely beautiful, and the grandeur and architecture of the homes I get to work with is just magic. You are in the process of opening a store. Why did you decide to branch out? I was looking for a new office space and something became available that had room for my interior design business as well as retail space. There was also area in the back for a nursery. Opening a store is something I always had in the back of my mind, so it all seemed serendipitous. What are your plans for the shop? I wanted to come up with something new for Palm Beach. It's very refreshing, clean and light. I carry furniture and accessories that you can't get anywhere else, such as Odegard and Lorna Lee John Mueller. The line I co-designed with James Duncan will also be available here. How did you design your own home? In college I was lucky enough to travel the world through a semester-at-sea program. This is when my love of travel was born, as well as my appreciation for artisans and craftsmen from different cultures and places. My own house is sprinkled with colorful treasures from around the world. How do you spend your free time? My favorite thing to do is to be with my new baby girl Luca and my husband, who is my best friend.
