EDITOR'S LETTER
Like sunshine, color always makes us feel better. This season we are beginning to see color in all its brighter tones, stimulating our senses even more. Colors affect us physiologically as well as psychologically. When we spoke with Donna May Woods, design director for Brunschwig & Fils—just one of the several professionals we consulted for this issue—she shared with us how our brain processes color, whether we consciously detect those colors or not. In Reporter's Notebook, Stephen Henderson explores the impact different colors have on us and reveals the trends we'll be seeing in 2007.
Regine Traulsen is no stranger to color. While transforming her and husband Bill Diamond's French Regency-style residence, her Moroccan upbringing played a large part. This is a home filled with romantic reds and soothing whites. Even on the overcast day we photographed it, the red still made an impact.
Designers Lee Bierly and Christopher Drake chose a more neutral palette for their Palm Beach getaway. As Lee explains, "For a lot of our clients, we work with so many colors that here we wanted layers of beige, cream and what we call 'greige,' a beige-gray blend." Even so, they still accented with color!
Wherever you live—both the places you call home and the places to which you escape—may you always take the time to unwind and rejuvenate...and focus on the important things in life.
